Lesson 22When people learn about my family home evening and scripture study book FHEasy, they see that we do a short topical scripture each day. One question that comes up is, “Do you read your kids scripture stories or do you just read your scripture for the day and call it good?”

We do both. Someone, usually me, reads the scripture for the day while everyone else eats breakfast. I’m not much of a morning eater most of the time, but everyone else is ravenous, so it works out well. Plus, I’m the one that remembers, so there you have it.

Sometimes, if I get interrupted, I have the person who wants to talk read the scripture. Other times, I ask if someone would like to read the scripture. And sometimes one of the kids will volunteer – or the two older ones will fight over which gets to read the scripture that day. But, much of the time, it’s me.

We read the daily scriptures almost every day. If we miss a day, we make it up the next day.

At night, my husband reads stories to the kids and starts with scripture stories. He does a good job talking to them about what the story means and asking questions to see if they understand what the story is about. Then, after story time, we pray as a family and put our younger girls to bed.

That’s what works for our family. What works for yours?
