new-years-3-fheasy-ideasHAPPY NEW YEAR!

Let’s make 2017 the year that FHE becomes FHEasy!

My goal is to support as many families as I can to make the wonderful traditions of family home evening and scripture study smooth, fun, and effective. There’s so much beauty in having your family close and happy, and there’s great peace of mind in knowing that you are teaching your kids what is most important to you spiritually and religiously. Just the fact that you’re reading this shows your dedication to your family. WAY TO GO!

So, FHE ideas for New Year are simple:

  1. I like to talk about the First Vision because it was the opening of a whole new dispensation AND because of the emphasis on vision. Joseph Smith’s vision of who he was meant to be and what the Church was meant to be grew over time, but it all started with that First Vision.
  2. Talk about your “vision” and your kids’ “vision” for the year and for your family. You can talk about having a vision of having lots of fun together or supporting each other in your various activities – including school, sports, art, hobbies, work, etc. And definitely include the parents here. Every member can support every other member, including the kids supporting the parents in accomplishing their goals.
  3. Brainstorm things you’d like to do over the next year. Make it light and fun. See if you can schedule a few things into the next couple of months and then write some ideas for summer in a place on your calendar that you’ll see it later. I’d go for early April or May if I think I need time to arrange anything. Otherwise, I’d put it toward early June when my kids get out of school.

One other note about New Year’s – A lot of people like to make New Year’s resolutions around health goals: weight loss, eating better, getting more exercise … Last week, I introduced my health coach Sarah Klein and her “30 Day Clean Living Challenge“, which starts January 9th. If you’re serious about those health goals, I recommend connecting with Sarah and doing the 30-Day Challenge. I love the challenge and do it twice a year to keep my focus on my health because I know my physical health and energy are my vehicles for living and giving. If the quality of my health goes down, the quality of my LIFE goes down!happy-new-year-2017
